Champion ISA interest rate history
The interest rate is the average of the five highest branch based cash ISA competitor rates, as taken and verified by Moneyfacts on the second Monday of each month. This interest rate will be effective from the first day of the month following its calculation.
The providers of the competitor rates are: Barclays, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds TSB, The Co-operative Bank, Natwest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Santander. The search includes branch based instant access, limited access and notice ISAs from the eight competitors on the AER of a £1,000 balance. To ensure a like for like comparison, certain accounts are excluded, such as fixed rates, regular savings, new money only and age-specific ISAs.

AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate which illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded once each year. Tax free is the contractual rate of interest payable where interest is exempt from income tax.

| *The core rate for Champion ISA effective from 24 February 2010 should have been the average of the 5 accounts listed above (0.95% AER tax free). However, until 31st March 2010 we included an additional 0.20% to the core rate as two of the products, the Royal Bank of Scotland's Instant Access Cash ISA and NatWest's Cash ISA, were offering a 0.50% bonus that Moneyfacts did not display due to the conditions that had to be met to qualify for the bonus. The inclusion of these additional bonus rates was reviewed in March. Therefore from 24 February 2010 until 31 March 2010 the core rate was 1.15% tax free as shown above. |
