When can you switch to a new deal?

When you can switch depends on what type of mortgage you are on and how long you have left before your current deal ends. If you are on a fixed rate and have less than 6 months left, you can apply to switch to a new deal now.

To check if you are eligible to switch now, log into Mortgage Manager and click on “find out if you can switch” on your mortgage account.

  1. Want to switch early? You can still look for mortgage rates

    If you have more than 6 months left and want to switch early, you may be subject to an Early Repayment Charge.

    You won’t be able to see personalised rates in Mortgage Manager, but you can still browse our latest rates using our rates calculator.

How to switch to a new mortgage deal online

If you are ready to switch and are comfortable choosing a new deal without any advice, you might be able to do this using Mortgage Manager online.

You will need your mortgage account number to log in to Mortgage Manager.

Information:

There is no affordability check when you switch deal.

When you can switch mortgage online

You can apply to switch to a new deal using Mortgage Manager online if you are:

  • comfortable choosing a new rate without any advice

  • on a fixed rate mortgage deal with less than 6 months left

  • on a tracker mortgage deal

  • on the Standard Mortgage Rate (SMR) or the Base Mortgage Rate (BMR).

When you cannot switch mortgage online

You cannot switch online in Mortgage Manager if you are:

  • On a fixed rate deal with more than 6 months left

    An Early Repayment Charge (ERC) will apply, and we need to take the payment over the phone or by video call. You can check what your current ERC is by logging in to Mortgage Manager and selecting 'View full account details'.

    One of our mortgage advisers can talk through your needs to make sure switching early is right for you and recommend the right deal.

  • On one of our mortgage deals for over 55s

    If you are on a Retirement Interest Only mortgage or a Retirement Capital and Interest mortgage, we can only complete your application by phone or video call. You need to be in the last 3 months of your deal to switch. There’s no Early Repayment Charge.

    When you apply, one of our mortgage advisers can talk through your options and recommend the right deal for you.

Do more than just switch in Mortgage Manager

You may be able to make other changes to your mortgage at the same time, such as:

  • set up or change overpayments
  • extend your mortgage term
  • apply to borrow more
