Whilst your premium may increase following an accident or a claim even if you were not at fault, guaranteed no claim discount allows you to keep your no claim discount however many accidents or claims you have.
Guaranteed no claim discount is charged on an individual basis, according to your personal details. If you have earned four or more years no claim discount you can choose to guarantee it for the entire life of the policy.
This means that:
You will not lose your no claim discount, no matter how many claims you make.
You will continue to benefit from your no claim discount year after year.
Whilst your no claim discount is guaranteed your premium may still increase, for example, following an accident or claim.
If you're involved in a road traffic collision that's not your fault, our motor legal expense insurance will provide cover for up to £100,000 of legal expenses in attempting to recover your uninsured losses. This option will help with:

If you already have Motor Legal Expenses cover elsewhere you may not need this cover on your Nationwide car insurance policy.
The standard comprehensive insurance covers you or your partner up to £10,000 if you are injured whilst travelling in, or getting in or out of the car that is being insured, which, within 12 months of the accident, results in:
With extended cover, for an additional premium of £19.90, comprehensive policy holders can choose to increase this level of cover to £100,000, allowing greater peace of mind.
Road Rescue breakdown cover offers a choice of 5 levels of cover, starting from £26 for Roadside Assist which:
Provides access to over 3,000 breakdown professionals covering the UK.
Priority rescue if you are in a vulnerable situation.
You can build upon this with other levels of cover to find the right package to suit your needs.
You can also choose to add Road Rescue Personal Cover for an extra £21, which extends the breakdown cover you have in the UK to any car you or your spouse/partner are driving or are a passenger in at the time of breakdown in the UK.
Vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition and where appropriate have an MOT certificate and road tax. There is no cover with 1/4 mile of your home address for Roadside Assist, Roadside & Home Assist and UK Recovery.
If you already have Breakdown cover included elsewhere you may not need this cover on your Nationwide car insurance policy.
The above optional extras can be purchased either at the same time as your Nationwide car insurance policy, or later during the policy period. These optional extras are also available as standalone covers elsewhere in the market.

Financial Services Compensation SchemeLiverpool Victoria Insurance Company Limited is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). This means that you may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if LV= cannot meet their obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.
Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit.
For compulsory insurance (eg third-party motor), the claim is covered in full, without any upper limit.

It is a minimum legal requirement to have car insurance that covers third party liability if you own/drive a car. If you don't have car insurance you will be committing a criminal offence and you may be prosecuted. In the event of an accident you may be responsible for the damage caused to the other vehicle and the loss caused to the driver and any passengers. Third party only cover does not provide insurance cover for fire, theft or damage to your car. Third party fire and theft cover is available, which covers fire and theft in addition to third party liability.
You can insure your car on a comprehensive basis. This provides cover for damage or loss to you and your car as well as third parties, in the event of an accident. This type of policy also has other benefits which may be appropriate for you. If you choose a comprehensive policy it is important to ensure the level of cover adequately reflects the value of your car.
Your responsibility to give LV= correct informationPlease make sure all the information you give LV= is correct and complete. It’s important because if you don’t LV= may cancel your insurance from its start date and/or not pay your claim. If you’re not sure whether you need to tell LV= about something please ask.
Always check to see if you are covered elsewhereYou cannot make the same claim twice, even if you've been paying for duplicate cover.
Stay covered when you switch If you have existing cover and want to switch to Nationwide car insurance, make sure that your new Nationwide policy starts as soon as your old one ends.
Regularly review your insurance needsYour circumstances may change over time. Remember to regularly review your insurance needs including your level of cover and tell LV= of any changes you want to make. Your premiums may increase if you require additional cover, so you may need to take your other financial commitments into account.
Make sure you understand what you're gettingPlease ensure that this policy is right for you and that you understand what is and is not covered. If you make a claim that is not covered or is excluded by your insurance, LV= won't be able to pay your claim or refund your premiums. So if there's anything you don't fully understand, please ask them to explain it to you before you go ahead.
