Important information - FlexAccount Visa debit cards

The Payments Council has agreed to an industry-wide withdrawal of the Cheque Guarantee Scheme from 30 June 2011. To facilitate this withdrawal, Nationwide will remove the cheque guarantee facility from new and replacement FlexAccount Visa debit cards ordered on or after 18 March 2010.

If you open a FlexAccount with a Visa debit card facility before 18 March 2010 your card will have the cheque guarantee facility and you will be able to use it to guarantee cheques until the scheme ends on 30 June 2011. However, if you open an account on or after 18 March 2010 or need a replacement for your original card and it is ordered on or after 18 March 2010, the new card will not have the cheque guarantee facility.
