Changes to our fees and charges

As of 1 September 2010 we are making some changes to our mortgage fees and charges, as detailed in our new Tariff of Charges (PDF 69KB).

Please note, these fees and charges only apply when you use the corresponding services.

The new charges help to ensure that the costs of the services we provide are met by those that use them, rather than the membership as a whole. We have made them clear and easy to understand, so you know what to expect.

New fees and charges effective September 1 2010: Q&As

  • The revised fees and charges help to ensure that the costs of the services we provide are met by those that use them, rather than the membership as a whole. We have made our fees and charges clear and easy to understand so you know what to expect.

These changes do not represent a change in the terms and conditions of your mortgage. The Tariff of Charges (PDF 69KB) is a separate document and the terms and conditions of your mortgage allow this to be changed by Nationwide after giving prior notice (where required). Please remember these changes will not apply to your mortgage until 1 September 2010.

  • The fee will be added to your loan once we have agreed that the criteria have been met and the transaction can proceed. Please remember this will increase your balance and you will pay interest on the fee amount, therefore if you would prefer you can make a payment to your mortgage account for the appropriate amount.

You can make a one off payment by Direct Debit, cheque or cash at any of our branches or you can post a cheque to us. Please make your cheque payable to Nationwide Building Society followed by your name and mortgage account number and send it to: Nationwide Building Society, Mortgage Servicing, Kings Park Road, Moulton Park, Northampton NN3 6NW.

  • If you are facing payment difficulties (even if you are not yet in arrears) please talk to us as soon as possible on 0845 600 9626.

  • No, only one fee will be charged as long as the request is made for the same amendment, at the same time. For example if you request to amend your term on two mortgage accounts, only one fee is payable as long as the requests are made on the same day. However if you request your term be changed on one mortgage account one day and then request the term to be changed on your other mortgage account a week later, two separate fees will be charged.
