If you are buying a new home or looking to remortgage to Nationwide from your current lender, you can get a Decision in Principle and complete a full application online (see full details below). If you would prefer to talk to someone, call us or visit your local branch.
Please note that mortgages marked 'Branch or Phone only' in the rates section are not available online.
First time buyers, new/existing customers moving home and remortgage customers:
Apply for your mortgage online in less than 30 minutes and get an instant decision in principle
View our mortgage rates and choose your mortgage, then start the application process. You can use our calculators to help you get an idea of how much we could lend you, then compare payments with our payment calculator.
You will need to read our Key Facts document, and we will create a full illustration based on the mortgage that you wish to apply for. These documents will form the basis of your full offer should you proceed, so please read them carefully.
This is so that we can confirm what you can afford, and what we will be prepared to lend you.
We will let you know immediately whether we will be prepared to offer you the mortgage and amount you require, or whether we will need to refer it to our applications team. You can use your decision in principle when making an offer on a property, as estate agents can take this as proof of affordability. Once you have your decision in principle you can continue with the full application online.
You will need to post us relevant documentation in order to complete your application. We will let you know what you need to send as part of your application. You will also need to provide details of the property that the mortgage is for. Once we have these details, we will make you the full offer.
If you are buying a property you will also need:
You can save your application at any point, and complete it later.

You will find your application in the ‘Apply Online’ section.
