1. Definitions
"VbV" means Verified by VISA. This secure service provides online authentication when purchasing goods from VbV enabled retailers over the internet.
"Account" means your Nationwide VISA debit or VISA credit card account.
"Identity details" means the personal information you provide us with when registering to use Nationwide VbV.
"Login Name" means the user name you use to identify yourself when using Nationwide VbV.
"E-mail Address" means a current valid e-mail address.
"Nationwide VbV" means the VbV service offered by us for you to use with your account.
"Personal message" means the message you choose when you register which will be shown to you on a receipt when making online purchases through participating VbV retailers.
"Password" means the password you choose to identify yourself with when using Nationwide VbV.
"We", "us" and "our" mean Nationwide.
"You", "your" and "yours" mean the person who has entered into this agreement with us.
2. Using Nationwide VbV
- When you use Nationwide VbV, both these conditions and your account conditions will apply.
- When you use Nationwide VbV to purchase from VbV enabled retailers over the internet an electronic receipt will be presented to you at the end of the checkout process. The receipt includes details of your current purchase, such as store name, purchase amount and date. You sign the receipt using your personal password and click 'Confirm Purchase' to proceed with the purchase. Without your password, the purchase cannot take place at participating online retailers. If the incorrect password is entered more than 3 times you will not be able to proceed with the purchase under Nationwide VbV until you enter the correct password. If you have forgotten your password you can create a new one by clicking on the 'Forgot your password?' link.
- If you change your address (including your e-mail address) you must notify us immediately to ensure that our records are up to date.
- Once you have registered your card for Nationwide VbV you will not be able to cancel that registration.
3. Security
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password, login name and personal message.
- If you have any concerns regarding the security of your login name, personal message and password you can change them at any time using the Personal Account Manager facility.
- We can stop you using Nationwide VbV if:
- You or someone else is using Nationwide VbV illegally;
- You are not keeping to these conditions or the conditions of your account.
- If your personal message is not on a receipt or the personal message on the receipt is not yours, you should not sign the receipt and should notify us, via the instructions contained in the FAQ's.
4. Changing the terms and conditions
- We may change these terms by sending a written notice of the change to any address, including any e-mail account, that you have given to us, or (if the change is to your advantage) by publishing them on the website.
- We may make changes with immediate effect to update or improve Nationwide VbV or to reflect any requirements imposed on us by any party which assists us in providing Nationwide VbV.
- We may make changes with immediate effect if required to do so by any law or other regulatory requirement affecting us.
- We will normally give you 30 days' notice if the changes we make are to your disadvantage.
- Nationwide VbV may be amended or discontinued, temporarily or permanently, without notice where the amendment or discontinuation is required by Visa International Services Association who run the payment systems for the cards used with your accounts.
5. Ending your Nationwide VbV service
We can end your use of the Nationwide VbV on written notice. We will normally provide you with thirty days written notice; however, in exceptional circumstances we may end your access immediately and notify you as soon as possible.
6. Your liability
Unless you are a victim of fraud, you are responsible for all instructions sent using your password.
7. Use of your information
- We may use the data you have provided to administer the VbV process.
- We may transfer this information to a country that is outside the European Economic Area for the purposes of managing and administering VbV and we will ensure that the security of your data is maintained.
- We may provide the police or any prosecuting authority any information obtained in connection with Nationwide VbV in order to allow them to investigate any suspected use of your security details.
8. Governing law
These conditions are governed by English law. Any disputes arising from these conditions will be dealt with by the English courts, unless you can show you accessed the site from Scotland in which case the Scottish courts may be used.
