Transfer Money
You can move money between your Nationwide accounts by using the instructions on the 'Transfer Money' screens. Please see the special details shown here for some accounts.You cannot transfer to and from your Nationwide Credit Card or Mortgage using the 'Transfer Money' option. For details of how to make these transfers, see below.
- You can transfer up to £50,000 (£3,000,000 between your Flexaccount and e-Savings).
- The available balance will be updated on both accounts immediately after the transfer has actually taken place.
- There is a £3,000,000 per member balance limit for e-Savings. Any funds over this limit will be transferred back to your FlexAccount.
If there are insufficient cleared funds available in your account, the transfer will not take place.
Keying in an account number if it is required
You can transfer money to another of your accounts that is not available online or to someone else's account.
To do this you need to select one of the following accounts from the 'To:' drop down list.
- FlexAccount (070116)
- InvestDirect (070030)
- CashBuilder Card (070030)
- SmartAccount (070030)
- Other Savings
- Business Investor (070055)
For BusinessInvestor, CashBuilder Card, InvestDirect, SmartAccount Card:
- This should be an 8 digit number as it appears on the card or statement.
- FlexAccount sort code is either 07-01-16 or 07-44-56. If the sort code is 07-44-56 on your cheque book or cash card, you should still type the account number in the box provided even though we only show 07-01-16 in the drop down list.
- The FlexAccount number should be entered as 8 digits. Sometimes a FlexAccount number has 9 digits with a 6 as the first digit. If this is the case, you need to ignore the 6 and use the following 8 digits. Where a FlexAccount number has 9 digits it will usually be presented with the 4 digit branch code or prefix e.g. 1234/612345678.
- Account numbers are printed on the inside cover of passbooks or on your Child Trust Fund Certificate.
- You should type in the full account number as it appears inside the passbook or on the Child Trust Fund Certificate e.g. branch code or prefix and the account number 0234/123456789 or 123-1-12345678-12.
Special Details
- Transfers to and from e-Savings can only be made from and to your FlexAccounts.
- Transfers to and from e-Savings will update account balances immediately. The transfers will take a little longer to appear on your next full statement. If you transfer to an e-Savings before 7.30pm, the transfer will appear on your e-Savings full statement the next working day. Transfers completed after 7.30pm will take an extra working day to appear.
- Funds cannot be transferred from a passbook account through Internet Banking. Transfers from passbook based accounts can only be made by presenting the passbook at a Nationwide branch.
- You can transfer money into a passbook based account, but the passbook will need to be updated by a Nationwide branch. Please allow 2 working days before going to a branch to have your passbook updated.
- Transfers for less than £250 are not allowed from InvestDirect accounts.
- You can future-date a transfer from your FlexAccount. Choose your FlexAccount and select 'Payments & Transfers' and complete an internal transfer arrangement. When you have set up the transfer, go to 'Payments & Transfers', click on 'Make a Payment' and transfer your money.
- This transfer will usually be set up overnight and you can go into 'Payments & Transfers' the following day to 'Make a Payment'.
- Transfers for more than £5000 per month are not allowed to BonusSaver accounts.
- Transfers into BonusSaver must be made by 19:30 on the last working day of the month to guarantee the transaction is counted towards that month's deposit.
- You cannot transfer more than £3000 into your Instant Access ISA or Members' ISA Bond during any single tax year (6 April to 5 April).
- You can only deposit money into your Members' ISA Bond once in any single tax year (6 April to 5 April).
