The Nationwide travel insurance online application is quick and easy. You will be guided through each stage of the form and prompted to fill in all necessary information. If you would like more information about the application process for either travel insurance policy, please select the relevant tab below.
At the initial stage of the quote process, you will be asked to confirm two statements in order to qualify for Nationwide travel insurance:
- All persons to be insured are permanent residents of the UK and under 80 years of age; and
- You have permission to disclose personal details including the medical history of all persons to be insured.
You will also be asked to answer the following questions which may affect your Nationwide travel insurance cover:
- Has any person to be insured had more than 2 travel baggage claims for loss or damage in the past 3 years?
- Are you aware of any circumstances that might result in you or any person to be insured having to cancel or cut short a trip, e.g. the illness of a close relative? You must tell us about medical conditions of anyone you are travelling with who isn't going to be insured on this policy and of any relatives if you know they have a medical condition that could deteriorate and result in you having to cancel or cut short a trip.
Once this has been completed you will be brought through to stage one of the travel insurance application process, About You.
- 1. About You
This is where you will be required to provide personal information about the main travel insurance policyholder. The information you will be required to provide includes:
- name;
- address;
- gender;
- date of birth;
- contact telephone number; and
- how many people you wish to insure on the policy;
- details of any pre-existing medical conditions for you or all insured persons on the policy.
Medical Conditions
The basic Nationwide travel insurance policy does not cover emergency medical expenses or cancellation or curtailment for pre-existing medical conditions, however it may be possible to provide cover for medical conditions, for an additional premium, if this is required.
Please read the Document of Insurance and the Questions and Answers section for more information on pre-existing medical conditions.
If you wish to apply for travel insurance cover for pre-existing medical conditions, you will be directed through an online medical assessment form where you will be asked questions regarding the nature of your condition, such as when it was diagnosed and what treatments you have undergone to control it. Please note, if you apply for this cover and are opting to include additional policyholders on the insurance, you will automatically be asked to declare any pre-existing conditions for all people on the policy. As such please ensure you are aware of their medical details and they have given you permission to use this information if they are not with you at the time of Travel Insurance application.
- 2. Travel details
You will be asked to input when your trip starts and ends and select where you are travelling to from the following list:
- Worldwide;
- Worldwide excluding North and Central America, Caribbean and Bahamas;
- Europe; or
- UK.
- 3. Your Quote
Once all information regarding the trip has been collected, your Nationwide single trip travel insurance quote including online discount will be generated and you can pay by either credit or debit card.
This page provides access to your Nationwide travel insurance Document of Insurance and Policy Summary which you should read carefully before you proceed to purchase as it contains important information.
At this stage you can make amendments to your Nationwide travel insurance policy to ensure it suits your needs. Each time you alter a field you can recalculate your quote to show the new premium specific to your choices. You have the option to select the following extras for an additional premium:
Personal Possessions (baggage)
Winter sports cover
Activities
Golf cover
Wedding cover
Business travel
If you don't wish to purchase your Nationwide travel insurance at this point you can choose to save your quote, allowing you to retrieve it at a more convenient time. You will be asked to input an email address. You will then receive an instant email confirming your Nationwide travel insurance quote and a link allowing you to complete the purchase. The quote will be saved and can be accessed for a maximum of 30 days.
- 4. Buy Online
When you select Buy Online you will be taken to a screen displaying all of the information you have input regarding your Nationwide travel insurance quote. You must review this to ensure it is correct and make any amends if necessary. It is important that all details are correct, as inaccurate or incomplete information could invalidate the travel insurance and you may not be able to make a claim.
In order to proceed with the travel insurance payment, you must have credit or debit card details to hand and you must be an authorised holder of the account used for payment. Please note; the address you input for the payment card must be an exact match of the card's billing address.
After entering your payment details you will be given the opportunity to select the method by which you would like your documents delivered. You can choose to:
- have them delivered by post; or
- download them immediately
As well as the environmental benefits, being able to download your documents means you have instant access to them and can either save a copy to your computer or print them out. This is especially helpful if you are going on holiday before your documents would have arrived by post.
Once you have completed your Nationwide travel insurance application and made payment, you will receive an email confirming the transaction and advising you of your policy reference number.
If you chose to receive your travel insurance policy documents by post you should receive them within 5-7 working days. If you still have not received them 10 working days after you have completed the purchase, please call on 0845 640 5930 and duplicate copies will be sent out to you.
This travel insurance policy contract allows you a 14 day cooling off period. If you change your mind, you may cancel your insurance by returning your documents within 14 days of receiving them. Any money you have paid will be refunded as long as you have not made a claim in that period. If during this 14 day period you have travelled, made a claim, or intend to make a claim then LV= are entitled to recover all costs that you have used for those services. Refunds will be made within 30 days of receipt of your request to cancel.
To cancel your travel insurance, please return your policy documents to:
