Income protection

Because you never know what's round the corner

Helping to ease the financial burden should you be unable to work due to illness or accidental injury.

Did you know?

If you are unable to work, the benefit from the state is unlikely to cover your monthly living costs.

  • £79.15 per week for the first 28 weeks (as at 6 April 2010)
  • After an assessment phase this could rise to £91.40 per week (source: Department of Work and Pensions as at 6 April 2010)

Is this enough to cover your monthly outgoings such as mortgage payments, food and household bills? Use our on-line Cost of Living calculator to find out whether or not your outgoings are likely to be covered by the basic state incapacity benefit.

The Nationwide Income Protection plan can provide a tax-free income (under current tax rules) until you are well enough to return to work, or until your chosen retirement age if you do not recover.*

Benefits of the plan include:

  • A regular monthly income which can provide up to 60% of the first £25,000 of your pre-incapacity earnings and 50% of the remainder up to a maximum benefit of £180,000 a year
  • Comprehensive cover covers most types of illnesses or accidental injury. Premiums start from just £10 per month. Terms and conditions apply
  • Personal claims service with expert support

We have selected Aviva Health UK Limited, a leading health insurance provider, to administer the Nationwide Income Protection plan. The insurer is Aviva Life & Pensions Limited.
