Bank on the go with our Smartwatch App

Will you be one of the lucky people unwrapping a Smartwatch this Christmas morning?

They may have been around a while, but with the launch of a number of new models in recent months Smartwatches have really come into their own. They’re set to be a popular Christmas gift this year thanks to new sleeker designs and more affordable prices.

Smartwatch uses are also expanding and there’s a wider range of apps available, including our own Mobile Banking app, which is available for both Apple Watch and Android WearTM devices.

Bank on the go

Our mobile app made banking on the move easy, but accessing it via a Smartwatch takes things to the next level.

Thanks to the Quick Balance feature you can check how much cash you have in your accounts, in real-time, simply by looking at your wrist – no rooting around in your pocket or bag for your phone, and it doesn’t matter if your hands are full.

There’s also no logging in or swiping through multiple screens required – you just have to press the Nationwide icon on your screen or ask Siri or Ok Google. Easy.

It’s secure too. Your phone can only be paired with one Smartwatch, so we’ll know any requests to see your balance are coming from you.

Using the Smartwatch also offers a discreet way to check your balance – the small screen means it’s much harder for others to catch a glimpse over your shoulder if you’re using it in a crowded place.

Easy set up

It’s easy to set up the Nationwide Mobile Banking app on your Smartwatch. If you’ve already got the Mobile Banking app on your smartphone, you simply need to pair your phone and watch. You can then log into Mobile Banking on your phone, select the Quick Balance settings on the main menu and choose which account types you’d like to be visible. You can use Quick Balance on your current account, savings and credit card.

If you’re not using the Mobile Banking app yet, you’ll need to download it to your phone first and then pair your devices.

Make use of Apple Pay

If you’ve got an Apple Watch, you can also use Apple Pay to make in-store purchases using your Nationwide debit or credit card via your Smartwatch.

See our step-by-step guide of how to set up an Apple Watch with a new credit or debit card.

Once you’ve added your card(s) to your Apple Watch, if the retailer accepts contactless payment, paying with your Apple Watch is easy. You simply need to double-click the side button and hold the display of your Apple Watch up to the contactless reader. A gentle tap and beep confirm that your payment information was sent.

All our debit and credit cards can be used with Apple Pay, apart from the FlexOne cash card.

Our Mobile Banking app can be downloaded via the App Store and is available on Google PlayTM. You must be registered for Internet Banking with us to use our app.
