Doing something funny for money

Red Nose Day is the day when everyone across the UK can get together and do something fun to raise money to help people in need. From holding a sponsored joke session to making your face funny for money, there are lots of ways people are choosing to make a difference and raise money this year.

Comic Relief spends the money raised on the day to help people in Africa and here in the UK, making real and lasting change to people’s lives. This year promises to be an inspiring one, as Comic Relief is hoping to increase the money raised to smash the £1 billion mark!

We’re proud to support Red Nose Day again this year

Here at Nationwide, we’re proud to support Red Nose Day. Last time we raised an incredible £158,000, and we’re hoping to raise even more this year. Our employees across the country are organising lots of fun things to do, including everything from car washes to face painting, and from cake sales to forfeit challenges. There’s even a sponsored gunging!

If you visit your local Nationwide branch during Red Nose Day itself you may well find something fun going on, and there’ll certainly be lots of enthusiasm to go round.

We’ll be on the phone lines too

Last Red Nose Day hundreds of Nationwide staff volunteered to man the phone lines and take donations from generous callers. We’re pleased to say they’re doing the same this year. We’ve got 200 phone lines, and over 500 employees will be taking calls from 7pm to midnight. It’s going to be quite an evening!

All the fun has a serious aim of course. Comic Relief’s aim is to create a just world, free from poverty. To date Red Nose Days have raised over £960 million to help inspiring and life-changing work. Smashing the £1 billion mark this time would be a monumental achievement, making a real difference to people in the UK and across Africa.

Thank you to everyone who is taking part in or supporting Red Nose Day again this year!
