Nationwide and the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

On Friday 26 September, Nationwide’s branches and administration centres will be buzzing with events across the UK in support of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Cake, anyone?

Friday sees Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event of the year. It’s a simple and fun way to raise money; mingle over coffee (and perhaps a little cake) and donate the cost to Macmillan. From humble, local beginnings in 1990, the Macmillan coffee morning has spread all over the UK, and further afield, with many thousands of events supporting the cause.

We hope you’ll join us on Friday 26 September to make this our best coffee morning yet.

Nationwide and Macmillan: £6.8 million raised since 1993

Over the last 21 years, Nationwide members and employees have raised an astonishing £6.8 million for Macmillan. This has helped fund two Cancer Information Centres, Welfare Benefits Advisers in five regions of the UK.

More recently, in the last couple of years, Nationwide’s partnership with Macmillan has evolved to provide lasting benefits to people affected by cancer, by giving them financial support to keep them in their own homes. We have provided funding for the Macmillan Support Line to assist with calls from people with housing worries and have funded grants to help people living with cancer with rent and mortgages payments.

By 2020, almost one in two of us will get cancer in our lifetimes.

While most of us realise that cancer might be the toughest physical and emotional fight we ever have to face, many of us might not immediately consider just how much of an impact a cancer diagnosis could have on the practical aspects of our day to day life.

Macmillan supports thousands of people every year through these difficulties - offering essential practical, medical, financial and emotional support.

Nationwide and Macmillan are determined to continue to work together to identify lasting solutions to ease the financial worries of people living with cancer.
