The transaction date is the date the amount appears on your account. |
| Interest is calculated daily on the account balance. You will not pay interest on new purchases if you pay your balances in full and on time. Otherwise, the period over which interest is charged is as above |
| Allocation of payments |
We will apply payments first to debts appearing on your statement in a high to low interest rate order, and then to any transactions that have not yet appeared on your statement, in the same high to low order. If you have more than one balance with the same interest rate we will reduce the balance with the earliest expiry date first. |
| Minimum repayments |
- Any default charges and interest due on your statement plus 1% of the remaining statement balance, or £25, whichever is the greater.
- Balances of less than £25 must be paid in full.

For every £5 you spend on purchases in sterling you earn the right to spend £1 on purchases in a non sterling currency without being charged commission. With our great 'Rewards for Abroad' feature we will reward you every time you make purchases in pounds sterling with a commission-free foreign allowance. For example if you spend £100 on your shopping in a month (UK, Sterling) you’ll automatically be rewarded with £20 worth of commission-free allowance to use on purchases in a foreign currency.
How it works
- Build your allowance - all purchases made in pounds sterling count towards your reward allowance.
- See how much you've earned - the allowance you've earned will appear on your monthly statement so you know exactly where you stand before you go on holiday. And there's no limit to what you can earn - if you don't use it all up one year, it will be carried forward to the next year.
- Low commission charge - for purchases abroad over and above your allowance, you'll be glad to know that at 2% the commission we charge is lower than many other cards.
Calculations are based on a ratio of 5:1, with expenditure representing "5" and reward representing "1". Minimum transaction amount to earn commission-free reward is 5p.
Purchases and cash machine withdrawals
If you carry out a transaction using your card in a currency other than sterling, it will be converted to sterling on the day the transaction is processed by our card scheme providers at a wholesale rate of exchange. For an indication of that exchange rate, you can see the Visa wholesale rate of exchange at . This is an "indication" because transactions are processed when the retailer passes them on to the scheme provider, which is generally not on the same day the transaction took place.
Questions & Answers
- When is my commission-free allowance available to spend?
-
Commission-free allowance is available to spend as soon as your sterling purchase transaction has been posted to your account - this is usually within 48 hours of the purchase being made.
- Where can I find out what my commission-free allowance balance is?
-
The information will be displayed on your credit card statement (available online if you have internet banking) or you can call Credit Card Services on 08457 99 88 99.
- If I return an item which has earned me commission-free allowance, what will happen to my commission free allowance if I return the item?
-
If you are given a refund for a purchase on which you accrued commission-free allowance we will deduct the commission-free allowance accrued on the original purchase.
- Do additional card holders accrue their own commission-free allowance?
-
Commission-free allowance is accumulated at an account level, so any qualifying spend on any card on the account would be applied on an account level basis. Any overseas spend on any card on the account would use the commission-free allowance.
