Corporate Responsibility

Corporate Responsibility

Welcome to our Corporate Responsibility internet site.

We believe as a member owned mutual, we have a duty to be a responsible corporate citizen; alongside being prudent with our members' money, delivering long term good value products and services, this embraces the way we engage our employees, creates a great place to work and delivers positive social and environmental impacts.

Corporate Responsibility is owned by all our employees, but overall responsibility lies with the Board of Directors. Individual accountability for each specific issue is listed below.

There are four key areas of our Corporate Responsibility strategy, which we are actively progressing. Here is a quick summary below. For more information visit our CR report page and see Nationwide’s CR work in action.

Finance – Our financial Corporate Responsibility (CR) activity focuses on key areas where we think we can make a difference: providing people with the skills and knowledge to avoid financial difficulty; and providing clear, transparent products.

Housing – Our CR work in the housing area focuses on the key areas of: supporting and promoting affordable housing; and supporting people who are homeless or have housing issues.

Community – Our CR work in the community starts close to home – being a responsible employer and helping our employees to succeed. Our charitable investment enables our partners to maintain and sustain vital services and keeps us aware of important social issues potentially affecting our customers.

Environment – Our environmental CR activity is focused on managing and reducing our direct environmental impacts in particular reducing our carbon footprint; we're also looking to have a positive wider impact through engaging our people and suppliers.
