Please note, after eight successful years running the Nationwide Consumer Confidence Index, this report will be the last.

Main index down three points in May

  • The main Consumer Confidence Index fell by three points in May to 41 and is just four points above its lowest ever level of 37 in October 2011
  • The main Index is more than 34 points below its long run average and it sits at its lowest level so far this year
  • The Index sits 16 points lower than this time last year
