Nationwide Building Society announces high street location for new branch in Glastonbury

2 February 2017

Nationwide Building Society today announces that its new Glastonbury branch will be located at 3 High Street. Work will now begin on designing the branch, which is expected to open by summer this year.

Commenting on the announcement, Graeme Hughes, Nationwide’s Distribution Director, said, “We knew from listening to the local community that a branch on the high street was important, so we are delighted to have secured such a prestigious building in the heart of the town. Today marks another step in our journey to bring financial services back to the people of Glastonbury and we will continue to engage with the town as plans for the branch unfold.”

The spacious building, which is Grade II listed, will feature a range of services, including the latest Nationwide NOW* technology. The branch will be led by recently appointed Branch Manager, Phil Goodridge-Reynolds, together with his newly recruited team, all of whom are from Somerset.

The Society continues to visit Glastonbury on a regular basis, inviting the community to come and meet the team, talk about the products and services that are important to them and to learn what being a member of Nationwide Building Society means. The next scheduled community event will be at the Town Hall on 4 February 2017 between 10am – 1pm. All the details can be found at www.nationwide.co.uk/Glastonbury.

Notes to Editors

Nationwide Building Society announced on 18 November 2016 that, following a public consultation with the local community, it would open a branch in Glastonbury in the first half of 2017. Over 1,000 residents indicated that they would be willing in principle to open a Nationwide account to support the Society’s investment in the branch.

Opening in the heart of the town by summer 2017, the branch will see the return of a financial services provider to the area. The branch will combine the very latest in new technology coupled with the very best customer service, delivered by Nationwide colleagues who will be on hand to provide advice and support to its members.
