- The Society is first financial service provider to partner with Snapchat in the UK
- Nationwide is first brand in the UK to use the app's Lens and Geofilter at the same time
To celebrate this year's A-Level results day and the launch of its new student account, FlexStudent, Nationwide Building Society is partnering with Snapchat to offer a bespoke Geofilter and Lens across the UK.
Both will be available to Snapchatters for one day only on Thursday 18 August. The Nationwide Lens and Geofilter, designed by the Society's lead creative agency, VCCP, will be the first ones that people can choose from when they Snap their friends and family that day.
Snapchat is one of the world's most popular digital platforms with over 10 billion videos viewed on Snapchat daily. It is also rapidly growing in the UK, with almost 10 million Brits using the app every day.
With its bespoke Lens and Geofilter, Nationwide is the first financial services provider to appear on Snapchat in the UK, while also being the first brand in any sector to use the app's Geofilter and Lens at the same time in the UK.
The partnership with Snapchat also coincides with the launch of the Society's first ever student account, FlexStudent, which offers a range of benefits, including an interest-free and fee-free overdraft of up to £3,000, and credit interest of 1% gross p.a/AER variable on balances of up to £1,000.
Sara Bennison, Nationwide's Chief Marketing Officer, said: "A building society is founded on the principle that life is better when it's shared. What better way for us to launch our new student account, therefore, than through this partnership with Snapchat as our younger members share their news on A-Level results day. It's a great example of where a mobile platform can enhance a very emotional, human experience."
Laura Di Simone, Group Account Director, VCCP Kin, said: "We're focused on using innovative formats to raise the profile of Nationwide amongst younger demographics. Snapchat felt like the natural home for this campaign due to its playful nature and high concentration of users in our target market."
