Nationwide’s members help raise over £150,000 for Shelter

At Nationwide Building Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held today at the Bournemouth International Centre the votes of over 820,000 Nationwide members helped to raise a total of £150,000 for Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity.

Results:

1. To receive the Annual Report and Accounts
For: 806,888 (98.94%) Against: 8,604 (1.06%) Votes withheld: 5,817

2. To approve the Directors’ Remuneration Report (excluding the Directors’ Remuneration Policy)
For: 750,547 (92.79%) Against: 58,323 (7.21%) Votes withheld: 12,440

3. To approve the Directors’ Remuneration Policy
For: 738,438 (91.4 %) Against: 69,518 (8.6 %) Votes withheld: 13,341

4. To re-appoint PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as Auditors
For: 789,293 (97.15%) Against: 23,159 (2.85%) Votes withheld: 8,884

Accordingly, all of the Directors standing for re-election were re-elected.

As announced in May 2014 Alan Dickinson has today stepped down as a Non Executive Director of Nationwide's Board. David Roberts will join the Nationwide Board as Chairman Elect on 1 September 2014 with the intention of taking over as Chairman upon the retirement of Geoffrey Howe at the AGM in July 2015.

Commenting on the vote, Geoffrey Howe, Nationwide’s chairman, said: “Through their votes at this year’s AGM, and in keeping with our strong focus on Citizenship, members have helped raise a total of £150,000 for Shelter. In addition, members have shown their support for Nationwide and its directors who have delivered on Nationwide’s mutual heritage by helping members buy their own homes, save and manage their money, while reinforcing the Society’s capital strength. I would like to thank our members for their support and assure them that we will continue to work hard to deliver our vision to be the first choice for financial services in the UK.”
