Nationwide Building Society has been recognised as the best bank or building society to work for in the UK after placing 11th in The Sunday Times’ list of Top 25 Big Companies, announced at The 2014 Best Companies to work for awards celebration at Battersea Evolution on 27th February.
Britain’s biggest mutual, which was the only bank or building society to be included in the list, was awarded a two-star rating, which is deemed ‘outstanding’ by Best Companies, the organisation that produces the annual list.
The list, which is published by The Sunday Times, has been compiled following an extensive employee survey which reports the actual experiences and perceptions of employees as opposed to external assessment or market performance measures. Nationwide’s strong performance demonstrates the high level of engagement employees feel at the Society.
According to the results, nearly three in four (72%) employees love working for Nationwide. Further findings show:
- The majority of those questioned feel there is a high level of support within their immediate team, with nearly nine in ten (86%) agreeing that people in their team go out of their way to help
- 85% of employees felt their manager talks openly and honestly with them, helping to create a positive working environment
- The majority of employees felt that Nationwide has a positive impact on the wider community, with 87% believing that the Society has a strong social conscience.
Nationwide Chief Executive Graham Beale said: “We are delighted that we have been named in The Sunday Times’ list.
