At Nationwide Building Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held today at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, the votes of over 875,000 Nationwide members helped to raise a total of just over £175,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The following three resolutions were passed:
1. To receive the Annual Report and Accounts
For: 859,852 (98.97%) Against: 8,945 (1.03%) Votes withheld: 6,276
2. To approve the Report of the Directors on Remuneration
For: 798,323 (92.54%) Against: 64,351 (7.46%) Votes withheld: 12,372
3. To re-appoint PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as Auditors
For: 839,006 (96.95%) Against: 26,437 (3.05%) Votes withheld: 9,636
Election and Re-election of Directors
The results of the election/re-election of Directors for Nationwide are as follows:
Accordingly, all of the Directors standing for election/re-election were elected/re-elected (as appropriate).
Commenting on the vote, Geoffrey Howe, Nationwide’s chairman, said: “This year, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, members have helped raise a total of just over £175,000 for the charity. In addition, members have shown their support for Nationwide and its directors who have overseen a strong year for the Society in a challenging economic environment. I would like to thank our members for this support and assure them that we continue to work hard to deliver our vision to be the first choice for financial services in the UK, helping our members to get more from their money.”

Nationwide pledged that it would donate 20p for every qualifying vote cast and donate the total amount to Macmillan Cancer Support.
