FlexPlus packed with benefits for Easter holidaymakers

Nationwide is making it easier for those heading off on holiday this Easter with a range of benefits available with its new FlexPlus current account and credit cards.

With the FlexPlus packaged current account, with a fee of £10, worldwide travel insurance is available for the whole family, and includes winter sports, golf, business and wedding cover as standard. It also covers travel disruption from weather events, natural disaster or airline failure and offers expenses cover for delays of more than four hours. Holidaymakers are covered whether they are travelling abroad or in the UK.

For those travelling by car either at home or abroad, there is UK and European breakdown cover. Also included in the FlexPlus market-leading package of benefits is worldwide cover on mobile phones, which extends cover to the whole family and includes unauthorised call charges. As well as worldwide emergency card assistance, all cash withdrawals from the FlexPlus account are fee and commission free while abroad. There is also worldwide emergency card assistance and identity theft protection.

It is not only the FlexPlus account that offers a great deal for travellers. Nationwide’s Select credit card¹, which is available exclusively to customers with a Nationwide main current account – FlexPlus, FlexDirect and FlexAccount - offers unlimited commission free purchases abroad, 12.9% APR representative.

Other benefits for the £10 monthly fee include: 3% AER (2.96% gross p.a.) variable credit interest rate (on balances up to £2,500); fee-free arranged overdraft for the first three months immediately after account opening and then £100 fee-free limit thereafter (subject to status); Extended Warranty Protection; access to ‘Flexclusives’ including savings, mortgage, personal loan, car insurance deals and an arranged overdraft of 50p per day.

To be eligible for a Nationwide Select Credit Card, account holders must either:

  • Hold a FlexAccount with a Visa debit card (not cash card or cash card+) and:
  • Have been paying in £750+ a month (excluding internal transfers) for the last 3 months; or
  • Complete an account transfer to us (from a non-Nationwide account) using our Account Transfer Service or have done so in the last 4 months; or
  • Hold a FlexDirect or FlexPlus account

Worldwide travel insurance – provided by UK Insurance Limited

  • Family, winter sports, golf, business and wedding cover is included as standard
  • Family members include: the account holder, their partner/spouse and dependant children who live at the same address as the account holder(s). To be covered any dependant children must not have reached the age of 19 (or 22 if in full time education) and be neither married nor in a civil partnership.
  • Protection if holiday is impacted by severe weather conditions
  • Unrestricted cover is available to all customers irrespective of age. For account holders aged 75 years or over, an annual premium of £50 is payable per account.

Trips must start and end in the UK. Trips in the UK must be more than 25 miles from your home and be longer than 2 nights in duration

  • The cover has been independently rated 5 star by Defaqto
  • Existing medical conditions are not covered

Mobile Phone Insurance – arranged for Nationwide by Lifestyle S provided by London General Insurance

  • Cover is available for all family members living at the same address up to £1,000 per handset including smartphones (excesses apply)

£2,000 cover for unauthorised calls

  • Contract and pay-as-you-go phones are covered
  • Maximum 2 claims per 12 months
  • Customers are not required to pre-register the phones to be covered
  • Mobile phone accessories are included up to the value of £250 if involved in same incident as handset
  • The cover has been independently rated 5 star by Defaqto

Breakdown cover – provided by Britannia Rescue and underwritten by Liverpool Victoria Insurance Company Limited

  • Customers are protected while driving in Europe as well as the UK
  • Personal cover protecting customer regardless of which vehicle they are in
  • Vehicle cover - Protection to anyone driving the account holders vehicle with permission
  • Home assistance, home transfer and relay cover included as standard
  • The cover has been independently rated 5 star by Defaqto

ID Theft Assistance – provided by Lifestyle Services Group

  • Customers are given access to a dedicated helpline which will provide advice on how to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of identity theft
  • If customers do become a victim of fraud a dedicated caseworker will provide expert advice and assistance on how to restore their identity

Worldwide card emergency assistance – provided by Lifestyle Services Group

  • If a customer’s cards are lost or stolen, one call will notify all issuers and order replacement cards

Extended Warranty Cover – provided by Lifestyle Services Group and provided by London General Insurance

  • Cover provides an additional 12 months warranty starting when the product’s original manufacturer’s warranty expires
  • Protected products include washing machines, cookers, laptops, tablets, vacuum cleaner and BluRay players
  • No excess payable when making a claim
  • Customers do not need to pre-register products
  • Cover is available up to £2,000 per claim, maximum £10,000 per 12 month period
