From 14 November 2013, Nationwide Building Society is increasing its interest free purchase offer on both the Select Credit Card (available to main current account customers) and Nationwide Credit Card for all new customers¹. Combined with the interest free balance transfer period and low balance transfer fee, these are amongst the best value credit cards on the high street.
Anyone opening a Nationwide Select Credit Card² online, in branch or via the telephone will be able to take advantage of an interest free purchase offer of 15 months, along with an interest free balance transfer offer of 26 months, with a balance transfer fee of 2.4% (minimum £5). For the Nationwide Credit Card, new customers will have the option of taking out an interest free purchase offer of 15 months or an interest free purchase offer of three months that will be combined with an interest free balance transfer offer of 26 months with a transfer fee of 2.4%³ (minimum £5).
Paul Carvell, Nationwide’s head of credit cards, said: “With Christmas fast approaching, many people will be looking to use a credit card to help spread the cost. This new interest free purchase period is one of the best offers available on the high street and could help you manage the cost of the festive season. Our Select Credit Card also offers 0.5% cashback* on anything purchased in pounds sterling, so you could earn whilst you spend.
“If you’re looking to take out a new credit card at this time of the year, you should look at the length of the purchase offer period to ensure you’re getting best value for money. Alternatively, if you are looking to transfer a balance, you shouldn’t just take into consideration the balance transfer period, you should also consider the fee.”
Additional benefits come with Nationwide’s credit cards, such as access to Simply Rewards where you can receive savings at various retail outlets, family restaurants and leisure facilities. Nationwide’s Select Credit Card offers 0.5% cashback on anything that is purchased in pounds sterling, as well as unlimited commission-free purchases abroad. With Nationwide’s Credit Card, customers are rewarded with a commission-free allowance which builds up whenever purchases are made in pounds sterling.
