Nationwide Building Society has partnered up with BBC Children in Need to do just that.

As well as energy and enthusiasm a good fundraiser needs to have good money skills. So Nationwide developed some new fun resources on www.NationwideEducation.co.uk/Pudsey to improve the money skills of budding young fundraisers across the country. The free resources have been written with, and for, teachers and parents and cater for 4 -18 year olds. Students learn about the importance of keeping costs down, increasing income, profit and return on investment.
Stephen Uden, head of Corporate Citizenship at Nationwide, said: "Teaching money skills is only half the story. We wanted young people to learn a life skill at the same time as helping the wider community. This year we are supporting the BBC Children in Need fundraising pack which helped raise £3.5 million for the charity last year. Hopefully with a big push around money skills this year we can improve an important life skill and raise that little bit extra for this well loved and respected charity."
Sarah Monteith, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at the charity, said: "Nationwide's continued support for BBC Children in Need is helping us raise money which will help us support disadvantaged children right here in the UK. BBC Children in Need's vision is that every child has a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential. Our partners are really important in helping us achieve this and we hope this new 'money skills' initiative will help schools get even more out of their fundraising efforts this year. It's great that schools have the opportunity to have fun, learn something new, all while making a difference to the children in the UK who need it most."
Nationwide has been working in partnership with BBC Children in Need since 2010, and last year raised £250,000 for the charity through employee and customer fundraising activities. This year, alongside the company's support of the school's fundraising pack and money skills resources, Nationwide branches will be running events where Pudsey merchandise will be available as well as the opportunity to donate.
So far the website has kicked off with some Money Saving Tips but over the coming weeks assembly ideas, lesson plans and short practical activities will also be added. The BBC Children in Need fundraising pack can be downloaded from the site.
